Olivia Rogers is a contemporary landscape painter who brings a fresh perspective to traditional paintings of the American wilderness through bold color, graphic composition, and expressive mark-making. Rather than depicting landscapes literally, she simplifies them into dynamic arrangements of shape and color, balancing recognizable places with painterly abstraction. Natural elements such as rivers, waterfalls, mountains, forests, and coastlines become the foundation for compositions defining the shape and flow of the work. With a heightened sense of drama each piece invites the viewer to experience the emotional energy of what it’s like to actually be in that place. Influenced by Impressionism, Claude Monet, Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven, and California Impressionists such as William Wendt. Olivia creates both immersive large-scale paintings and intimate, jewel-like works. Her ongoing project to paint landscapes from all fifty states gives her practice a distinctive narrative, bringing together diverse American terrains as a cohesive and collectible body of work.

Bio.

Born in central Massachusetts, she began creating at a young age and further developed her talent through county and national art competitions during her youth in Upstate New York. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Illustration from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2016 and was awarded the Brandon Fellowship at the Greenville Center for Creative Arts in 2017–2018, an experience that marked the beginning of her professional career.

Olivia works in heavy-body acrylic on wood, mixed media art boards, linen, and paper. Her work ranges from intimate studies to expansive canvases. creating landscapes that are familiar in subject yet distinctive in visual language.

She has received recognition including “Best Weather Drama” at the 2023 Blowing Rock Plein Air Festival and multiple honors from the Metropolitan Arts Council. Olivia has exhibited nationally and regionally, with solo, duo, and group shows at venues such as Art & Light Gallery, Greenville Metropolitan Arts Council, Falls Tower Gallery, The Abney House, Greenville Center for Creative Arts, The Woodlands, The Art Cellar, The Haywood Mall, Hartness, Westys Antiques, Capello Salon, Lake Conestee Nature Preserve, Spartanburg’s Spruce Interiors, McCormick Community Center, South Carolina Arts Foundation, Metropolitan Gallery and Art Consultancy in Austin, Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta, The Charlotte Art Salon, and in Marion, Indiana at 1920 Gallery, The Abbey Coffee Shop, Main Street Marion Pop-up and Marion General Hospital. Her work has also been featured in Belle Magazine, the Greenville Journal, and Greenville Art Buzz.

Based in Greenville, South Carolina, Olivia draws inspiration from her local environments while pursuing a nationwide series of landscapes inspired by a variety of scenes across America. Since 2017, she has continued to explore and celebrate the breadth, beauty, and emotive power of the natural wilderness.
